Acted in '13 Ghosts (1960),' 'The Addams Family (1964-1966),' 'Brewster McCloud (1970),' 'The Night Strangler (1973),' 'Sigmund and the Sea Monsters (1973-1974)' and 'Lou Grant (1979-1982)'

Why she might be annoying:

She was a commercial icon for Maxwell House coffee.
She had a face like a horse.
She was typecast as nasty old spinsters.
Although she appeared in over 75 films, very few of them are noteworthy.
She signed her autographs 'WWW' (for 'Wicked Witch of the West').
She appeared on the disturbing Kroft puppet show 'Sigmund and the Sea Monsters.'

Why she might not be annoying:

She was unpretentious.
Her husband left her and she raised her child alone.
She loved children.
Before becoming an actress, she was a kindergarten teacher.
She served on school boards her entire life.
She was badly burned during the filming of 'The Wizard of Oz' when her makeup caught fire.
Her Wicked Witch character is one of the most memorable movie villains of all time.
