Why Ventura, California might be annoying
It is prone to earthquakes, wildfires, and mudslides.
It has an expensive cost of living.
Despite being the namesake and county seat, it is not the biggest or most populous city in the county (that distinction belongs to its neighbor, Oxnard).
Alaska Airlines Flight 261 crashed into the Pacific Ocean 15 miles south of the city killing all 88 passengers and crew members on board (January 31, 2000).
Why Ventura, California might not be annoying
The city has many tourist attractions and historical sites such as the Mission San Buenaventura.
It is has warm summers, and mild cool winters.
Lake Casitas, located outside the city's boundaries, hosted the rowing and canoeing comptetions of the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympics where legendary rower Steve Redgrave won the first of his five gold medals.
Oscar winning actor-director Kevin Costner was one of its notable residents.
