Why he might be annoying:

    He left the Le Havre Academy of Fine Arts to apprentice with a house painter and interior decorator.
    He initially reacted to Picasso's proto-cubist 'Les Demoiselles d'Avignon' with shock, saying 'Your painting looks as if you wanted to make me drink gasoline and spit fire.'
    Novelist and art collector Gertrude Stein constantly misspelled his name as 'Brack.'
    He was overshadowed by Picasso.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He and model Marcelle Lapre were married for 51 years.
    Serving with the French army in World War I, he earned the Croix de Guerre and Legion of Honor, and suffered a severe head injury that temporarily blinded him.
    He designed sets for Sergei Diaghilev's Ballet Russes.
    He said about his close collaboration with Picasso during their cubist days, 'It was like being roped together on a mountain.'
    He was the first living artist to have his works exhibited at the Louvre (1961).
