He and Ben Hogan were close friends.
He took a job as a head professional at a few golf clubs.
He took time to teach golf to Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford and King Hassan II of Morocco.
His four sons Claude, Jr. (Butch), Craig, Bill and Dick and his grandson Claude III followed his footsteps to become golf instructors.
He was enshrined into PGA of America and the World Golf Teachers' Halls of Fame.
