Arrested February 20, 2001 after a tip from a Russian intelligence officer about a double agent
Escaped the death penalty by pleading guilty to 15 counts of espionage and conspiracy
Sentenced to life in prison without parole

Why he might be annoying:

He sold US secrets to the Russians.
Some US analysts have called him the most damaging spy in US history.
A few other FBI agents say he did it for thrills and/or adventure.
He compromised dozens of Russians spying for the US; some of them were executed.

Why he might not be annoying:

He apologized for his crimes even though he had no incentive to do so (he had already been sentenced).
US intelligence interrogated him for information.
His neighbors knew him to be a family man.
