    Winner of the Hugo and Nebula awards
    Received the International Fantasy Award for lifetime achievement

Why he might be annoying:

    He wrote a book (later made into a comic book and TV movie) about a killer bulldozer titled 'Killdozer.'
    An episode of the original Star Trek written by him introduced the Vulcan hand signal and the incredibly irritating phrase 'Live Long and Prosper.'
    He was married five times and had seven children.
    He smoked.
    He suffered repeated bouts of writer's block.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He formulated Sturgeon's Law in response to a criticism that 90% of science fiction is crap, when he explained that 90% of everything is crap.
    He would work poetic meter into his prose work.
    He had over two hundred short stories published.
    He was a favorite of other science fiction authors particularly James Blish and Kurt Vonnegut.
    He, Issac Asimov, Robert Heinlein, and A. E. von Vogt all had their first science fiction works published in 1939, marking the beginning of the Golden Age of science fiction.
    He is the namesake for the Theodore Sturgeon Award for best science fiction short story of the year.
