    When he first moved to LA, he got complaints from his neighbor Joan Hackett after his dog Pal scratched up her Mercedes.
    He fathered Brandon Smith during a one-night stand, but never even knew about it until his son approached him backstage after a 1997 performance of ‘Sunset Blvd’ in Vancouver.
    He joked in a People Magazine interview about growing his hair long after an extended spell of chicken pox. When he finally returned to junior varsity football practice, 'two guys trampled my ass... [I said] Screw this, I can meet girls without breaking my leg!'
    He got to be washed up enough to stage a one-man show on Broadway called ‘Confessions of a Teen Idol,’ in 2014.

    His brother is the lead singer for Starz.
    At his peak, he was a near-regular presence in 16 Magazine and Tiger Beat.
    He performed live at the 1982 Miss Universe pageant, in Lima, Perú.
    He admitted that his various teen idol excursions ruined his first marriage (e.g. constant cheating, identifying as ‘single’ to keep his female fans).
    He did have one other Top 40 hit, but it came as a duet with Rachel Sweet (‘Everlasting Love’).
    'Everlasting Love' became his one hit on the UK Singles Chart, peaking at No. 35 (1981).
    He won a Theatre World Award for ‘Pirates of Penzance’ (1981).
    He later returned to his musical roots to play the Pirate King, in the same musical.
    His portrayal of the King earned him a Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle nomination (2007).
    His relationship with his biological son has been surprisingly healthy (they even collaborated on his one-man show).
