Why he might be annoying:

    His name sounds generic.
    He dropped out of school as a teenager to start up his golf career.
    He caused controversy claiming that he won't compete in any future World Cup following 1971 because Bruce Devlin was not selected into the Australian team.
    He also recieved criticism from Graham Marsh before the 1985 Dunhill Cup for taking the money for his Australian golf tournament appearances.
    He had one Top 5 finish in the British Open and did not win the tournament (1985).

    He was originally left-handed before switching to be right-handed.
    He was the first golfer to come from Australia to win a U.S. Open.
    He helped Australia win the 1970 World Cup and two straight Alfred Dunhill Cups (1985-86).
    Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus pushed for his World Golf Hall of Fame nomination.
    He was chosen to be a Member of the Order of Australia (1988).
    He was forced to retire from playing golf due to heart problems.
