Why he might be annoying:

He got his nickname from his resemblance to comic strip character Andy Gump.
He suffered several injuries, including a pulled hamstring that prompted his temporary retirement (1972).
He was afraid of flying and suffered a nervous breakdown after a rough flight from Montreal to Chicago (1969).
When the Rangers' coach complained about his beer belly, he replied, 'He should know better than that. I only drink scotch.'
He set the NHL record for most career losses, with 352.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was named Rookie of the Year despite playing for a last place team (1953).
After asking for a $500 raise the next year, the Rangers sent him to the minors instead.
As the Rangers' goalie, he was asked what team gave him the most trouble. He replied, 'The Rangers.'
He was one of the last two goalies to play without a mask.
