Why he might be annoying:

His academic struggles led to him being turned down by various colleges.
He was injured in the regional championship and missed out on St. Bonaventure's run to the NCAA semi-finals (1970).
He is divorced and remarried, with four children from both marriages.
He was often seen as being the scapegoat for the Pistons failures during his tenure with the team.
He requested a trade from Detroit when he couldn't handle the pressure of playing another losing season.

Why he might not be annoying:

He turned down an offer to play in the ABA during his junior year of college in order to get his degree.
He provided a spark to a Pistons club during his rookie season, which saw the team record their first winning season in 13 years (1970-71).
He was considered one of the smoothest shooters of his time by basketball pundits.
When asked about not getting a chance to play for a championship team, he said 'I don't need a championship to have made my career a successful one. I think the importance of it to me has been overplayed.'
Following his retirement, he worked in the NBA office, helping start various educational programs for children.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar had to drag him and Walton up and down the court for 48 minutes.
