Wrote ‘Symphonie fantastique (1830),’ ‘Requiem (1837),’ ‘Roméo et Juliette (1839),’ ‘Les nuits d’été (1841),’ ‘La damnation de Faust (1846)’ and ‘Les Troyens (1863)’

Why he might be annoying:

He gave up a career in medicine because he was squeamish around blood and guts.
He was a nancy-boy who would start sobbing uncontrollably when reading poetry.
He stalked an Irish actress and sent her crazy letters.
She eventually agreed to marry him, but the marriage fell apart.
When another woman broke off their engagement, he planned to murder her and her family and then commit suicide (but never went through with it).
His last name sounds like it could be a breakfast cereal (Berli-Oh’s!).
The only thing crazier than his personality was his hair.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was one of the most innovative and influential composers of his time.
Although his music is now famous around the world, he still isn’t appreciated in his native France.
He was friends with the famous writers Dumas, Balzac and Victor Hugo.
He was lonely.
