The Resume

    (March 21, 1938-January 27, 1967)
    Born in Cassine, Italy
Recorded 'Mi sono innamorato di te,' 'Ho capito che ti amo,' 'Vedrai, Vedrai,' 'Lontano Lontano,' 'Ciao amore, ciao,' and 'Quando'
    Romantically involved with Dalida
Found dead in his hotel room with a bullet wound in his left temple (January 27, 1967)

Why he might be annoying:

All three of his albums were eponymous.
    He abused LSD and mescaline.
He dated Dalida and then cheated on her (they later got engaged).
He shot himself after his entry for the 1967 San Remo Festival failed to make the finals.
His suicide may in part have been motivated by jealousy of Dalida, as she performed the exact same song and got an overwhelmingly positive reaction from attendees.
He left a note saying that his gesture was against the jury and public's choices during the competition.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was born out of wedlock and never met his father.
His music was heavily censored by the Italian government.
His budding career was interrupted by military conscription (he was discharged on medical grounds).
He was on the same level as Alain Delon in terms of looks.
He became an icon of love and despair after his death.
Dalida was so traumatized after finding his dead body that she attempted suicide a month later, and spent five days in a coma.
The details surrounding his death remain disputed, and many still believe he was murdered.
The original verdict of suicide was reaffirmed after his corpse was exhumed and an inquiry into the autopsy was conducted (February 2006).
