The Resume

    (August 1956- )
    Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin
    David A. Clarke Jr.
    64th Sheriff of Milwaukee County (2002 - )
Former MPD Police Captain (1996-1999); later Commanding Officer for the Department's Intelligence Division (1999-2002)
Frequent TV pundit known for his appearances on Fox News, and CNN
Known as a vocal critic of gun control, the mainstream media, and The Black Lives Matter Movement (BLM)
Spoke on behalf of Presidential nominee, Donald Trump at the Republican National Convention’s 'Make America Safe Again Night' (Jul 18, 2016)
    Democrat

Why he might be annoying:

He frequently makes public appearances in a cowboy hat.
He refers to BLM with the crude nickname, Black LIES Matter.
He marketed T-shirts reading 'Don't. Resist. Arrest.'
He has made a career out of dismissing grievances against the police force by highlighting black-on-black violence statistics.
He has been accused of going after President Obama personally on several occasions.
He did several public service announcements encouraging people to arm themselves as an alternative to calling 911.
The PSA resulted in Piers Morgan accusing him of 'basically implying that it won't help citizens to call 911 if they need help.'
He courted the conspiracy nut-job Alex Jones by talking about a 'second American Revolution' on Info Wars.
He was successfully sued by two officers who claimed their religious liberties had been violated when Christian Centurions began proselytizing at mandatory meetings (2006).
He differs sharply from other critics of BLM by not only condemning the movement, but by insisting that 'there is no police brutality in America' whatsoever.
He generated controversy during a heated interview with Don Lemon in which he claimed to have predicted the wave of anti-cop sentiment leading to the police shootings in Baton Rouge and Dallas, in 2016.

Why he might not be annoying:

He has a horse named ‘Ranger.’
His father was an Army veteran who served in the Korean War.
He opened his RNC speech by proclaiming ‘Blue Lives Matter in America!’
He has a degree in Criminal Justice Management from Wisconsin’s Concordia University.
He was credited with vastly improving the quality of the Milwaukee Department of Corrections facilities when the responsibility was transferred to the Sheriff’s office.
He has been the object of racially-charged attacks for his conservative views.
For example, Wisconsin state legislator, Mandela Barnes, publicly stated ‘I don’t even accept him as black.’
He has maintained a high popularity with local voters, even as his profile has become more polarizing over the years.
Don Lemon noted that he was visibly shaken during their argument, likely tense from the news of the shootings.
He dryly mocked Hillary Clinton’s claim that she carries ‘hot sauce in her purse,’ saying he was shocked she didn’t say ‘watermelon’ instead.
He reconciled his conservative views with his affiliation as a Democrat by saying ‘Like me, most people question why the Office of Sheriff is a partisan election. I have never asked a person to vote for me because I run as a Democrat. I ask them to vote for me based on my 35-year commitment to keeping citizens safe.’
