Judge

The Resume

    (March 1, 1927-December 19, 2012)
Solicitor General of the U.S. Department of Justice (1972-1977)
    Attorney General (1973-1974)
Judge for the U.S. Court of Appeals in Washington D.C. (1982-1988)
Nominated for the United States Supreme Court (1987)

Why he might be annoying:

He was a Socialist before becoming a Conservative.
He carried out Richard Nixon's order to fire Watergate prosecutor Archibald Cox because of Cox's request for taped Oval Office conversations.
His firing of Cox spawned the verb 'borking,' which refers to firing a person for doing the job they were hired to do.
He believes that the Constitution does not contain a right to privacy.
The U.S. Senate rejected him for the Supreme Court by a vote of 42-58.
He ridiculed George W. Bush's literacy skills in a 'Wall Street Journal' article.
Steve Martin made a lame joke comparing him to Björk at the Oscars in 2001.
He became a Catholic in 2003.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a professor at Yale Law School.
He has argued over 40 cases before the United States Supreme Court.
He said that it was the Court's job to adjudicate and not to legislate from the bench.
He argued for a separation of constitutional interpretation from partisan politics and ideology.
Many claim his rejection for the Supreme Court was based on ideological and partisan reasons and not because of his qualifications.
His writings have influenced William Rehnquist and Antonin Scalia.
His last name sounds like something the Muppets' Swedish Chef might say.
