Why World Hockey Association (WHA) might be annoying:

It was a league that competed directly with the National Hockey League.
The league's championship trophy was renamed the Avco Cup after Avco Financial Services purchased the naming rights.
Four of the league's teams relocated to different cities before playing a game.
The league's officials were red and white striped referee shirts instead of the traditional black and white.
They allowed teams to relocate during mid-season.
Many of the league's franchises suffered from financial difficulties.
As of 2007, the Edmonton Oilers are the only former WHA team still in its original city.

Why World Hockey Association (WHA) might not be annoying:

It was the first league to scout and employ both American and European players.
Despite its status as a pro league, it was a breeding ground for players such as Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, Rod Langway and Mike Gartner.
Notable Hall of Fame players such as Bobby Hull, Dave Keon and Frank Mahovilich played in the WHA.
After the league folded, four of its franchises, the Edmonton Oilers, Hartford Whalers, Quebec Nordiques and the Winnipeg Jets were absorbed into the NHL.
It was viewed as one of the first leagues to place teams in non-traditional hockey markets.
