Why he might be annoying:

He prefers to go by the name 'Kiki' instead of his birth name of Ernest.
Despite making the playoffs consistently during the course of his career, his teams never advanced past the second round of the playoffs.
He was strongly despised by Maverick fans after he refused to play for the team following his draft selection.
His signature offensive move was a jab step which many fans and pundits alike referred to as the 'Kiki Move' during the later stages of his career.
His tenure as Nuggets general manager was seen as controversial as he traded for either first round busts or washed up veterans.
He notoriously picked Nikoloz Tskitishvili with a lottery pick, passing on future stars such as Caron Butlerand Amare Stoudemirein the process.
He turned the Nets into one of the NBA's perennial laughingstocks in a span of two years.

Why he might not be annoying:

He is a second generation NBA player as his father Ernie Vandeweghe, Jr. played for the Knicks during the NBA's formative years.
Despite the negative criticism he received for his player decisions he made in Denver, he brought the Nuggets back to relevancy by drafting franchise cornerstone Carmelo Anthony and hiring George Karl as head coach.
He returned to Dallas in a front office capacity and was instrumental in the team's acquisition of Dirk Nowitzki in a draft day trade (1998).
He guided the Nets to the team's first victory of the 2009-10 NBA season, ending an 18 game losing streak in the process (2009).
He was born in Germany, while his father was a member of a basketball team in Wiesbaden.
