Why they might be annoying:

Each group member eventually dropped out of college.
One of the bands they opened for was Papa Roach.
They originally recorded with Grammy winning producer, Warren Riker, but the record label deal stopped because of differences between them.
Their original drummer (not Aaron) left the group before they had a record deal.

Why they might not be annoying:

They were signed to Warner Bros. Records after performing at a benefit concert for September 11th.
Simon and Chris were at a college several hours away from Peter's college but they managed to meet on weekends and perform.
'Headstrong' was a #1 Hit on Billboard's Modern Rock Charts.
After losing a record deal, quitting college and the drummer leaving the band, they still managed to succeed.
