Why he might be annoying:

    He was primarily used as a backup during his tenure with the Phillies.
    He signed with the rival Athletics, but was denied a chance to play for the team due to a court Injunction in Pennsylvania.
    He struggled playing the outfield position early in his career.
    He suffered a serious knee injury, only to reaggravate it by coming back too soon.
    He provoked a fistfight with Nap Lajoie, which caused the latter to miss significant time during the 1900 season.
    He never played in a World Series during his career.
    He was traded to the Kansas City Blues, but the deal was nixed when he refused to report to the team (1910).

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was a multi-sport athlete, participating in boxing, football and wrestling, before pursuing baseball full-time.
    He began his baseball career as a semi-pro player, before being noticed by the Phillies, who signed him to a contract.
    He played the majority of his career with a serious stomach ailment, which he didn't let hamper his performance.
    He had a close battle with Honus Wagner for the a NL Batting title, losing it to the latter on the last day of the regular season (1900).
    He chose to sign with Cleveland, after he realized that the injunction against him didn't apply in the state of Ohio.
    He hit three triples in one game (July 6, 1902).
    He was always happy to sign autographs for fans, long after his playing career ended.
    He succumbed to congestive heart failure two days before his 95th birthday.
