Subject and possibly author of the Old Testament Book of Daniel
Also known as ‘Daniyyel' and ‘Belteshazzar'

Why he might be annoying:

Like many Bible figures - all together now - HE MAY NOT HAVE EXISTED.
Religious experts bicker about whether he was a prophet or not.
He is confused with two other Daniels in the Old Testament.
He grew up rich.
He claimed to be psychic.
He was called ‘Belteshazzar,' which sounds a bit like Snoop Dogg-esque slang.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was considered intelligent and good-looking as a young man.
He was kidnapped and enslaved by the Babylonians because he was Jewish.
He continued to practice his Jewish faith even though it was forbidden by law.
Despite his slave status and unpopular religion, he rose to a high rank in the administration of his masters.
When his political enemies threw him in a den of lions, God himself supposedly intervened and saved him.
His adventure in the lions' den is a favorite Bible story for children.
He inspired many gospel songs and spirituals.
His name is still popular today.
