Gymnast

The Resume

    (December 21, 1957-February 25, 2021)
    Born in Michigan
Head coach at the Great Lakes Gymnastics Club (1984-96) and Twistars USA Gymnastics Club (1996-2018)
Coached the 2012 US Olympic gymnastic team
    Regular coach of Jordyn Weiber
Employed Larry Nassar as a physician
Indicted on 24 felony charges: 14 counts of human trafficking for forced labor, 6 counts of human trafficking of minors for forced labor, and one count each of first degree criminal sexual conduct, second degree criminal sexual conduct, participating in a continuing criminal enterprise, and lying to an officer during a violent crime investigation
Committed suicide by gunshot the same day

Why he might be annoying:

Michigan State Police investigated him for assault after a female employee of Twistars claimed he stepped on her foot to keep her from walking away and chest bumped her (November, 2011).
State police investigated him again after a gymnast reported that he grabbed her arm and stepped on her foot; prosecutors declined to press charges, but ordered him to seek counseling (October, 2013).
While making victim impact statements at Larry Nassar’s trial, multiple gymnasts or their parents testified that Geddert would regularly berate the young girls in his program, push them, and step on their feet to get their attention.
Gymnast Makayla Thrush said that he ended her career when he shoved her against the low bar, tearing the muscles in her stomach and rupturing a lymph node in her neck.
While haranguing the gymnasts he was training, he would tell them to kill themselves.
He continued praising Nassar as ‘an extremely professional physician’ even after sexual abuse allegations were made against him.
Several gymnasts testified about being too terrified of Geddert to report Nassar’s behavior to him.
One gymnast reported that Geddert walked into the training room while Nassar was digitally penetrating her vagina and joked that her back must really have hurt.
Several gymnasts described Nassar having been the ‘good cop’ to his ‘bad cop.’ (Consider just how big an asshole you would have to be for a sexually abusive doctor to be the ‘good cop.’)

Why he might not be annoying:

As a coach, he compiled a record of 2,445-63 in state championship competitions.
He was named Michigan’s male coach of the year by the US Gymnastic Federation (1988).
He coached the women’s gymnastic team to their first all-around Olympic gold medal since 1984 (when the Americans had benefited from most of the Eastern Bloc boycotting the games).
