Why he might be annoying:

He really liked exclamation marks in titles!
He and the Zucker brothers had to battle with the DGA to get all three of their names in the credits of ‘Airplane!’
He split with the Zuckers after the trio collectively decided it did not make financial sense to keep dividing directing fees three ways.

Why he might not be annoying:

He has known the Zucker brothers since childhood.
He said that the studios used Hollywood accounting to stiff the trio out of royalties for ‘Ruthless People.’
He met his wife during the filming of ‘Airplane!’ (She was one of the extras.)
Since ‘Mafia!’ he has largely left filmmaking to focus on fundraising for epilepsy research and promoting ketogenic diets. (His son Charlie has epilepsy and his condition noticeably improved after switching to a ketogenic diet.)
