He hated being called Roy, preferring to be called by his nickname Rocky.
His disease elongated his face in a bizarre shape.
He was parodied in a not too flattering way on the TV show 'Family Guy.'
Swedish pop musician Jens Lekman released some songs under the pseudonym Rocky Dennis.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a straight 'A' student.
The disease that afflicted him is so rare that less than 20 cases have been documented.
His disease caused him recurring, excruciating pain.
Instead of moaning about the crappy hand fate dealt him he chose to live his shortened life to the fullest.
The film about his life helped launch the career of Stoltz, who received a Golden Globe nomination for his touching portrayal.
