World Leader
    (March 25, 1972- )
    Born in Haifa, Israel
Former Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) officer and software entrepreneur
Minister of Diaspora Affairs (2013-19), Minister of Economy (2013-15), Minister of Education (2015-19), and Minister of Defense (2019-20)
Prime Minister of Israel (assumed office June 13, 2021)
During Operation Grapes of Wrath, an IDF campaign against Hezbollah positions in Lebanon, he radioed for support after his unit came under fire, resulting in an artillery barrage that struck a UN compound sheltering refugees, resulting in 106 civilian deaths (April 18, 1996).
He had to renounce his American citizenship after being elected to the Knesset (2013).
He has been a member of five different parties since entering politics.
He said Israel should adopt a 'shoot to kill' policy along its border with Gaza; asked if that would apply to children as well, he replied, 'They are not children. They are terrorists.' (2018)
He signed a pledge on TV that he would never allow Yair Lapid, head of the centrist Yesh Atid party, become Prime Minister, then formed a power-sharing coalition in which he agreed that after serving two years as Prime Minister, he would hand the office over to Lapid in 2023.
He has been described as 'right wing, but pragmatic.'
As Economy Minister, he implemented reforms to lower Israel's high fuel prices. (Although critics argued that the subsequent decline in fuel prices had less to do with his policies than a worldwide drop in commodity prices.)
After the murder of a 16-year-old girl at the 2015 Jerusalem gay pride parade, he instructed the Education Ministry to develop programs to prevent future attacks on the LGBTQ community.
He has pledged to reduce bureaucratic barriers to small and medium-sized businesses.
