Former All-Japan Triple Crown Champion, AWA Heavyweight Champion and holder of numerous NWA titles
Known as 'The Lariat,' 'The Man From Borger, Texas' and 'Fuchinkan' in Japan

Why he might be annoying:

His nickname in Japan was 'Fuchinkan,' which means 'unsinkable battleship.'
He had some very weird looking facial expressions.
He has poor eyesight and many think that his lariat clothesline was so stiff because of his blindness in the ring.
Although a legendary figure in all of wrestling, he was far more successful in Japan than in the United States.
He refuses to market an English version of his autobiography, despite the success of the Japanese version in Japan.

Why he might not be annoying:

His nickname was 'The Lariat' because he possessed the most devastating clothesline in the history of the sport.
He is one of few wrestlers to make it big in Japan and he was often voted most popular American wrestler in Japan for much of the 80's and 90's.
He's the only wrestler to beat both Antonio Inoki and Giant Baba for titles and he's also the only man to become the top American in both of their promotions.
A Japanese translation of his best-selling autobiography sold out quickly in Japan, forcing the publisher to schedule a second printing.
His match with Bruno Sammartino was named Match of the Year in PWI in 1976, the same year he was named Most Hated Wrestler of the Year.
He's ranked #44 in Total Wrestling Magazine's 100 Greatest Heels of All-Time.
He's in the Wrestling-Observer Hall of Fame and he's one of the few American wrestlers inducted in the Puroresu Hall of Fame.
