The Resume

    (January 26, 1904-November 20, 2004)
    Born in Colorado Springs, Colorado
    Physiologist
Conducted the Seven Nations Study indicating a link between heart disease and high-cholesterol diets
Advocate of the low in saturated fat 'Mediterranean diet'
With his wife Margaret wrote 'Eat Well and Stay Well' (1958)

Why he might be annoying:

One of his jobs before going to college involved shoveling bat guano out of a cave.
He created the nearly tasteless K-rations that WWII GIs loathed.
Critics claimed that he cherry-picked the data for the Seven Nations Study to support his desired conclusions.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was married to Margaret for 65 years until his death.
His daughter Martha was murdered during a vacation in Jamaica (1991).
He called himself a supporter of 'reasonably low fat' diets.
He said, 'Fad diets are for the birds, if you don't like birds.'
He died two months short of his 101st birthday, so his advice worked for him.
