Why she might be annoying:

She was discovered when a producer heard her singing as she cleaned the bathrooms of his recording studio.
In 1997, she appeared on Sinbad's HBO MusicFest.
She dropped 'Champagne' from her name in the early 1980's but later reclaimed it as she tried for a comeback.

Why she might not be annoying:

She was nicknamed 'Champagne' for her sparkling personality.
She recorded 'Shame' at just 16 years old. No-one believed such a young girl had such a powerful voice.
In a decade's time, both of her parents and a brother passed away.
Her only child was born with a birth defect.
