Baseball Player

The Resume

Why he might be annoying:

He was unable to develop into a power hitting third baseman at the professional level.
His appearance on 'The Late Show with David Letterman' is remembered for him saying he wanted to be a gynecologist when he grew up (1993).
He went from the majors to being destitute, eating out of dumpsters and heavy substance abuse, comparing his lifestyle to that of Nicolas Cage's character in 'Leaving Las Vegas.'
He was labeled as being 'The next Tony Gwynn' by the Padres front office, which was a distinction he couldn't live up to.
He bounced around the minors and the independent leagues following his departure from the Twins.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was born in Atlanta, when his father was a member of the Braves.
He was the first American-born pitcher in Little League history to record a no-hitter in consecutive games.
He was a member of the American men's baseball team that won the Olympic Gold medal (2000).
He overcame his demons and made a return to the majors when he signed with the Diamondbacks.
He was honest when he was asked about his exile from baseball, citing he was mentally exhausted by the time he left the Mariners.
