The band's first album was recorded with members of the band Elf. After the album was released all the members except Dio were replaced.
Band members changed on every album.
They were banned from performing in Liverpool after Blackmore demolished his guitar over a balcony.
They were banned from performing in Austria after a scuffle with a security officer.
Changing to a more commercial musical direction alienated tons of fans.
They were never successful in America.

They were one of the most popular bands of the 70's.
The band has a cult following.
Many of their albums are still considered classics of the heavy rock genre.
