Why he might be annoying:

He briefly attempted a movie career in the Thirties.
He made his fortune keeping track of celebrities and their lifestyles - paving the way for the likes of Robin Leach.
He first became interested in the celebrity lifestyle after caddying for golfer Bobby Jones.
He was photographed next to Marilyn Monroe after her infamous singing Happy Birthday to President Kennedy.
The photo has frequently been repurposed with President Kennedy's head Photoshopped onto his body (the fake photo still is floating around on the internet, occasionally getting shared by gullible fans on social media).

Why he might not be annoying:

He was born wealthy but used his social connections to raise money for the less fortunate, particularly underprivileged kids.
He had a brief stint on Broadway with the musical comedy he co-wrote, 'Aries Is Rising.'
As Celebrity Service expanded, he published an International Celebrity Register and an annual Contact Book.
He coordinated parties that mixed charity with celebrity and that drew much attention from the press.
One such occasion was a 1967 international masked ball that was held in a 17th-century palazzo on the Grand Canal in Venice to aid artisans who had suffered losses in a flood the previous winter.
He was a director of the Broadway Foundation, and from 1957 to 1965 was director of the Mayor's Committee on Scholastic Achievement, raising money for college scholarships.
