Comedian

The Resume

    (November 11, 1904-January 10, 1941)
    Born in Nagybecskerek, Austria-Hungary Empire
    Birth name was Jozsef Pinter
Acted in 'College Rhythm (1934),' 'New Faces of 1937 (1937),' 'Mr. Doodle Kicks Off (1938),' 'Go Chase Yourself ( 1938),' 'The Day the Bookies Wept (1939)' and 'Millionaire Playboy (1940)'
Trademark catchphrases were 'Wanna Buy a Duck?' and 'You naaaasss-ty man!'

Why he might be annoying:

    What's with the duck...?
There are few surviving recordings of his radio show.
A wind-up toy in his likeness is valued today at $1,500.
His zany pathos-free slapstick routine paved the way for funny men like Pee Wee Herman and Jerry Lewis.
His speech and mannerisms would serve as inspiration for Egghead (original Elmer Fudd) from Looney Tunes.
His own IMDB bio closes with 'Had he not died so young [he] probably would have suffered an early decline anyway simply due to the repetitive nature of his schtick and faded into supporting character roles' (harsh).

Why he might not be annoying:

He started out doing Charlie Chaplin impersonations on the Vaudeville circuit.
He made his debut on the Rudy Vallee Show.
He attained household name status overnight.
His famous routine started out with him asking his partner on stage if they 'wanna buy' a random item. When he used a duck in the act, the crowd went wild.
Mel Blanc got his start voicing his famed 'pet duck' (named Goo Goo).
He was caricatured in a memorable Disney cartoon, 'Mother Goose Goes Hollywood (1938)' coupled with Donald Duck.
The Joe Penner Show was voted as Radio's Top Comedian show of the 1930s.
He died of a heart attack at age thirty-six.
