    (February 7, 1961- )

Retired Lt Colonel in the United States Army
Veteran of Desert Storm/Desert Shield and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan
BS from the University of Tennessee, MS from Kansas State both in Political Science, Master of Military Arts from the United States Army Command and General Staff College
Winner of the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal and the Army Achievement Medal

Why he might be annoying:

He was accused of war crimes when he fired his pistol near the head of a prisoner during interrogation.
He went from war hero to being a politician.
After retiring, he was injured in Afghanistan while working as a civilian adviser.
He's kind of goofy looking, especially when he is wearing glasses.
From the annals of ridiculously tired political firebranding, he accused 80 Democrats in the House of Representatives of being Communists at a town hall meeting (April 11, 2012).
He was so proud of himself for his Communist comments, his campaign released the video of said town hall meeting to the public.

Why he might not be annoying:

When asked about the incident which led the charges against him, he said, 'I'd go through hell with a gasoline can for my men,' and pointed out that as their commanding officer if they were killed, he would be writing letters to their families and not to the regulations that got them killed.
The prisoner (who was not physically injured) he was accused of mistreating had information about a series of past and future terrorists attacks on West's men and revealed a plot against West's own life. After the prisoner confessed there were no more attacks on West's men in the prisoner's home town.
Although his planned court martial was dropped due to a public outcry, he was still fined 5,000 dollars and forced to retire.
He works to help other American service personnel who he believes were unfairly imprisoned for alleged war crimes.
He has taught high school and once said 'Education is the great equalizer...with a good education any child in America can live his dream.'
Keith Olbermann hates him and refers to him as a 'disgrace.'
Seriously, who would you rather trust your soldier son's life with, West or Olbermann and his ilk who hate him?
