He joined a 'New Cars' that did not include vocalists Orr and Ocasek.
He also toured with the John Fogerty-less Creedence Clearwater Revisited.

He is left-handed.
He provided a distinctive guitar sound on the Cars' records.
He said, 'Somehow in my career, I’ve gotten tagged with this silly notion of being one of the great underrated guitar players. But I never felt that way. I always felt pretty well-recognized by the guitar community.'
