    Best known for his roles as Eric Liddell in 'Chariots of Fire' and as Rev. Charles Andrews in 'Gandhi'

Why he might be annoying:

    He did not want the public to know he was suffering from AIDS until after he died.
    His two most famous movie roles were those of men in the cloak.
    When he studied architecture at Edinburgh University, he made a model of a magnificent bridge, but forgot to lay the foundations.

    Sir Ian McKellen said that he played Hamlet so well as if he had rehearsed the role his entire life.
