Baseball Player

The Resume

    (October 4, 1982- )
    Born in Northridge, California
    Bats right, throws right
Starting pticher for the Los Angeles Angels (2006- )
    Brother of Jeff Weaver

Why he might be annoying:

He spells his name with two 'E's instead of one.
For a time, he was overshadowed by his brother.
On draft day, 'Baseball America' touted in its magazine 'Where in the World is Jered Weaver Going?'
He and his agent Scott Boras refused to sign a contract two years after he was drafted by the Angels.
At one point, he sported long, Jesus-like hair.

Why he might not be annoying:

He won the Roger Clemens Award, college baseball's top pitching award.
A 2004 'Los Angeles Times' article called him dominating, describing his pitching as overwhelming 'batters with a fastball between 89 and 94 mph, a sharp slider and an improving curveball all thrown with the same three-quarter arm delivery. He also has a fiery streak that is revealed with a fist pump or yell after a strikeout that ends an inning or a long at-bat.'
His breaking ball repertoire includes a plus changeup, a slider, and a curveball.
He also throws sidearm occasionally for a strikeout or to fool hitters.
Part of Weaver's success has been attributed to his unusual pitch delivery.
He replaced an ineligible CC Sabathia at the 2010 All Star Game.
He tied Randy Johnson to become the second pitcher in MLB history to win his sixth game in just his team's twenty-third game.
When he and his brother Jeff (who was with the Dodgers at the time) were announced as the starting pitchers, they became the first brothers to go against each other since Alan and Andy Benes did so in 2002.
He pitched a no-hitter against the Minnesota Twins (May 2, 2012).
