Why he might be annoying:

He got the nickname 'Moose' not for his size but from a haircut he had as a kid that people thought made him resemble Mussolini.
He was initially so clumsy a fielder that manager Casey Stengel sent him to the Arthur Murray dance studio to improve his footwork.
He missed thirty games after injuring his back lifting an air conditioner (1957).
When he was diagnosed with lung cancer, he said 'Considering I was a four pack a day smoker back in the day, I'm surprised it took so long.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He went to Purdue University on a football scholarship, but found himself better suited for baseball when he had a .500 batting average as a sophomore, setting a Big Ten record that lasted a decade.
He was known as a clutch hitter, and had home runs in Game Seven of three different World Series (1956,1958,1962).
He was inducted into the National Polish-American Hall of Fame (1980).
Mickey Mantle said, 'Moose could flat-out hit... for average and he had real power. Moose might have been batting sixth or seventh, but he made our line-up deep and more dangerous.'
