    Born in Lancaster, California
    Drafted 1st overall by the New York Mets in the 1966 Major League Baseball Draft
    Catcher for the Winter Haven Mets (1966-72)

Why he might be annoying:

    His middle name was Lynn.
    He is the first player to be selected with the first overall pick never to reach the major leagues.
    He dislocated his shoulder while attempting to return back to the base before getting picked off.
    His playing career was derailed by injuries before his 25th birthday.
    He never reached higher then AAA ball, and no callups during his five years with the team.

    He was personally recruited to the Mets by Casey Stengel.
    He was the first catcher to be selected with the #1 overall pick.
    He was a standout catcher in high school.
    He temporarily worked as a firefighter in Santa Barbara, California following the end of his baseball career.
    He later found work as a contractor and a construction worker following his stint with the SBFD.
