He was the NL leader for errors committed as a shortstop in the 1881 season.
He struggled in his last season in Chicago due to an illness as it made his strength and agility go into decline.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was one of baseball's very first superstars.
He was the first-ever NL batter to hit a home run.
He was the first player with a .400 batting average to be the batting champ in the NL.
He pursued 'fair-foul hits' as were recorded as hits before the 1876 season.
He is the record holder for runs per game in one season with 1.91.
