Why he might be annoying:

He stopped being the executive producer of 'Dawson's Creek' in 1999 (many fans say the show hasn't been the same since).
Many horror fans believe that his films 'Scream' and 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' destroyed the horror genre forever.
He claimed that the character Dawson (a heterosexual who has a crush on his female best friend) was based on himself, yet he came out later as a homosexual.

Why he might not be annoying:

After the tragedy at Columbine High School, he decided to edit out some of the violent content in 'Teaching Mrs. Tingle,' despite the fact this would harm the film's commercial success.
He almost quit writing all together when a high school English teacher once ridiculed him in front of the class.
The 'Scream' series is the highest grossing horror franchise of all time.
