The Resume

    (1902- )
    Located in northern Arizona
    Founded by T.C. Schnebly
    Incorporated in 1988
Named for T.C. Schnebly's wife Sedona

Why Sedona, Arizona might be annoying:

Its founder named it after his wife.
It was originally supposed to be called 'Schnebly Station,' 'Red Rock Crossing,' or 'Oak Creek Station.'
It only became Sedona so that the town would have a name short enough to fit on the rubber stamps used to cancel used postage.
It attracts many psychics and new age followers.
Many of its residents believe that there are vortices nearby that have mystical powers.
This has prompted some people to pay tour guides good money to take so-called 'Vortex Tours.'
It has tour companies that take people for rides in bright pink Jeeps.
It lies in two counties at the same time.
Its City Hall and Police HQ lie not in the urban core, but in the far edge of town.
Its closest major airport is in Flagstaff, but to get there from Sedona, one must travel a narrow highway up a steep mountain with lots of hairpin turns.
It can be rather expensive to live in.

Why Sedona, Arizona might not be annoying:

It lies amongst some exquisite red rock formations.
Its soil is red, too, from having so much oxidized iron.
Many Hollywood Westerns, such as Johnny Guitar, Virginia City, and John Wayne's Tall in the Saddle, were filmed there.
Many films in other genres were shot there, too, such as Harry and Tonto, The Karate Kid, and National Lampoon's Vacation.
'The Bachelorette' was shot there, as well.
It has its own film festival, and a prestigious film school, the Zaki Gordon Institute.
The city zoning ordinances require that its buildings blend in with the natural scenery, to avoid tacky-looking corporate buildings; so even big businesses, like McDonalds and Safeway, must paint their buildings to match the scenery rather than use their own traditional colors.
Jamie O'Neal mentioned it in her song 'There is No Arizona.'
It is a vibrant artist community.
There are plenty of fine Italian restaurants there.
It is a center of progressive liberal thought.
