Why he might be annoying:

It took until his 15th and final year of eligibility for him to be elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Even to this day, there is still an argument over whether he had the credentials to get in.
Those who say he didn't deserve to get in the Hall of Fame cite how he never got along with writers during his career, a number of whom vote on Hall of Fame members. Not to mention how he's in the top ten all-time of grounding into double plays and how he ended up retiring in his mid-30's after injuries took their toll among other factors.
He is a fan of 'The Young and the Restless' and was watching that when he received the call that he made it into the Hall of Fame.
He is a spokesman for New England-based Sullivan Tire.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a very feared hitter during the height of his career.
When he won the American League MVP in 1978, he became the only man to date to lead a league in home runs, RBI's and triples in a season.
Two days after he was inducted into the Hall of Fame, his number 14 was retired by the Red Sox.
During a game in 1982, after a teammate's foul ball hit a 4-year old in the head, he rushed from the dugout and carried the boy over for medical attention.
During his playing career, he became an honorary chairman to the Jimmy Fund, a charity with which the Red Sox have worked closely with over the years. In 1992, he was a recipient of the Jimmy Award from that charity for his work with them.
