Why he might be annoying:

He recorded 140+ penalty minutes in a season on five occasions.
He was undersized for a forward.
He received a 15 game suspension after viciously attacking another player in the head with his stick (1992).
After being appointed the Avalanche head coach, he was demoted back to assistant coach after a season and a half.
Some hockey pundits have deemed his coaching style to be too soft.

He established himself as an NHL regular following his trade to Los Angeles.
