Why Hay River, Northwest Territories might be annoying:

    It is overshadowed by the territorial capital, Yellowknife.
    It has extremely harshly cold winters and short summers.
    Like many northern communities in Canada's Arctic region, access here is rather limited.
    Its airport is located between the old and new sections of the town.
    Due to its location near Great Slave Lake, it is prone to harsh flooding.
    It went through a population decline following the closure of the Pine Point Mine.

Why Hay River, Northwest Territories might not be annoying:

    It was the site of a Hudson's Bay Company trading post, which was considered one of the first permanent buildings on the land.
    It was the first northern community to have gained highway access into southern Canada.
    It is considered a major port centre in the Canadian north.
    It is the northernmost terminus along the North American rail network.
    It experienced a significant population boom when the Pine Point Mine set up operations near the town.
    Despite its remote location, it is a bustling community with a lot of diversity.
