He dropped out of Boston University to become a full-time comedian.

He used to smoke, but quit years ago.
He has been reduced to being a host for various throwaway ABC specials ever since he left 'Talk Soup' (he was signed by ABC to star in a late night comedy show, but the show fell through).

Why he might not be annoying:

He achieved a near impossible task by being a better 'Talk Soup' host than Greg Kinnear.
During his run on 'Talk Soup,' he was in many funny and memorable sketches with the crew of the show, characters such as Senor Sock, and celebrities like Jerry Springer and Dustin Hoffman.
He loves eating Italian food and chicken.
