Somehow, he and Boz Scaggs won a Grammy for Best R&B Sing for the song 'Lowdown' even though both performers are white.
He worked with David Foster.

Like what band mate Jeff Porcaro did, he contributed to Michael Jackson’s album ‘Thriller.’
He produced Aretha Franklin’s 1977 hit ‘Break It To Me Gently.’

He is the son of late jazz musician Marty Paich.
