Why he might be annoying:

Immediately after a detective began inquiring about Cora's disappearance, he and his mistress fled for Canada aboard the SS Montrose.
If he had traveled second class instead of first, he might not have been recognized by the captain of the Montrose.
He became the first criminal captured thanks to wireless communication when the captain radioed his suspicions to Scotland Yard, who sent a detective to Canada on a faster ship.
Even if he did not kill Cora, there was a dismembered body buried beneath his cellar.
Evidence showed that the body had been buried after the Crippens moved into the house.
One theory is that Crippen was performing illegal abortions and that the body from the cellar was a woman who died during the procedure.

Why he might not be annoying:

His wife openly committed adultery.
He consistently maintained that Cora had left him for another man and returned to the US.
Cora performed under the stage name Belle; shortly after her disappearance a woman named Belle moved in with Cora's sister in New York.
Mitochondrial DNA tests comparing the remains from the trial to samples taken from Cora's relatives 'conclusively proved' that the body was not Cora (October, 2007).
