The Resume

    (October 7, 1953-September 1, 1955)
    Aired in syndication
    Betty White as Elizabeth
    Del Moore as Alvin
Premise: Depicts the day-to-day events in the lives of a newly-married couple

Why Life with Elizabeth might be annoying:

It was a generic 1950's sitcom.
Each episode consisted of three short, unrelated sketches.
Some of the sketches just consisted of Elizabeth and Alvin talking to each other.
Each episode would end with a frustrated Alvin walking off and saying: 'I shall leave you at this point, Elizabeth.'
The announcer's voice would then boom down and scoldingly ask 'Elizabeth, aren't you ashamed?'
It was incorrectly reported that a lost episode of the show would be debuted theatrically for 'Betty White: A Celebration' (the lost episode is actually from White's second sitcom, 'Date with the Angels').

Why Life with Elizabeth might not be annoying:

It made Betty White a household name.
It was based on sketches involving the Elizabeth character Betty White had performed on her earlier talk show 'Hollywood on Television.'
Whenever the announcer would ask Elizabeth if she was ashamed, she would at first nod before vigorously shaking her head and grinning mischievously (thereby indicating she wasn't).
It was canceled despite being a ratings hit with audiences.
Betty White earned her first Primetime Emmy Award nomination for her work on the show.
Betty White participated in a restaging of the show for the two-hour '13 at 50' in front of a live studio audience (September 11, 1998).
The streaming channel Film Detective aired a 24-hour marathon of its episodes in honor of what would have been Betty's 100th birthday (January 17, 2022).
