    Wrote the Ronnie Milsap songs 'Stranger in My House' (1983), 'Show Her' (1983), 'Still Losing You' (1984), 'Prisoner of the Highway' (1984), 'She Keeps the Home Fires Burning' (1985), 'Lost in the Fifties Tonight' (1985), 'How Do I Turn You On' (1986), 'In Love' (1986), and 'Where Do the Nights Go' (1987)
    Also wrote songs for Bonnie Raitt ('I Can't Make You Love Me'), Conway Twitty ('Fallin' for You for Years'), Don Williams ('I Wouldn't Be a Man'), Willie Nelson ('There You Are'), Alabama ('Forever's As Far As I'll Go'), The Judds ('Born to Be Blue'), Wynona Judd ('My Strongest Weakness,' 'To Be Loved By You'), Tanya Tucker ('Some Kind of Trouble'), Colin Raye ('In This Life'), and Tim McGraw ('Everywhere')

Why he might be annoying:

    He said about his decision to quit football for music, 'I had started dreading game days.'
    Before heading for Nashville, he played at Colorado ski resorts with a group called the Apple Butter Band.
    Nashville music publisher ATV Music signed him to a $100/week deal (1980), but dropped him after a year and a half.
    During an 'MTV Unplugged' performance, George Michael introduced 'I Can't Make You Love Me' by saying, 'This is a song made famous by the great Bonnie Raitt and written by.... well, actually, I'm not sure who wrote it.'

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was captain of a Penn State football team that went undefeated in two consecutive seasons (1968-69).
    The same year he was an unanimous All-American choice, he played piano with the symphony orchestras of Cincinnati, Dallas, and Utah (1969).
    He led the Bengals in sacks four of his five seasons.
    He had one #1 country hit as a performer and a dozen as a songwriter.
    He won the Grammy for Best Country Song for 'Stranger in My House.'
    He has the unusual distinction of having been inducted into both the College Football Hall of Fame (1987) and the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame (2005).
