Why he might be annoying:

    He was divorced.
    He was fired from the production of the film 'Justine (1969),' and was replaced by George Cukor.
    He unsuccessfully lobbied the Motion Picture Association of America to lower the rating of his film 'Tropic of Cancer (1970)' from an 'X' to an a 'R' or 'M' rating.
    As a result, the film bombed at the box office.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He served in the US Army during World War II.
    In 1977, he invented the usage of six-axis motion simulators as entertainment systems and applied it to new machines used now in Disney theme parks as 'Star Tours.'
    He helped commission architect Oscar Niemeyer's only building erected in North America.
    His film 'Interviews with My Lai Veterans (1970)' won an Oscar for Best Documentary Short Subject.
