Why he might be annoying:

His films have been criticized for portraying the IRA sympathetically (although he claims he doesn't support them).
Most of his movies are adaptations of books.
After directing three successful movies, he went to Hollywood and made two films that flopped.
He was excluded from the editing of 'High Spirits' and claims that the theatrical version of the movie is very different than the one he filmed. He says his version is locked away in a vault somewhere.
He said: 'I'm fascinated by monsters [and] monstrous people and fascinated with illogic and irrationality.'
He said: 'My temperament is Irish. Dark and sick. That's what we are over there.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He studied English and History at University College in Dublin.
He went from a successful novelist to a successful director.
The major plot twist in 'The Crying Game' is very famous.
He often casts Stephen Rea.
