Why he might be annoying:

    He was nominated for a Razzie for his appearance in the gymnastics-meets-martial-arts flop 'Gymkata' (1985).
    He appeared with Chuck Norris and Christie Brinkley in infomercials for the Total Gym.
    He attempted a comeback, declaring, 'I will be on the 1992 Olympic team without question.'
    Despite that promise, he did not make it.

Why he might not be annoying:

    The 'Thomas flair' he created for the pommel horse is still regularly performed by Olympians.
    He was the first gymnast to win the Sullivan Award for best amateur athlete in the US (1979).
    He lost his best shot at Olympic gold to the Jimmy Carter boycott.
    His wife Rebecca choreographed dance routines for Shannon Miller, Dominique Dawes and Dominique Moceanu.
